German multinational conglomerate company, Siemens, has concluded plans to train electricity Distribution Companies and other electricity stakeholders in the country. Siemens in a statement on Thursday stated that 11 DISCOs, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and regulators would be trained on all the equipment and software being provided in the phase 1. According to the company, the training was part of its phase 1 pre-engineering contract of providing 25,000mw of electricity to the nation. A statement by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr Nkereuwem Enyongekere, in Uyo Thursday, described the exercise as dubious, illegal and unilateral and urged Akwa Ibom people to disregard it. The military has described the attack as an isolated incident. Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, has expressed disappointment in the Nigerian Army after his convoy was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists. The governor's convoy ran into an ambush in the Baga area of the state on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. The trooper serving in 202 Battalion of 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama, Borno State allegedly 'went beserk' and fired at the officer around 10:30 am.
