Osun, Ogun record new coronavirus cases

Nigeria has now recorded a total of 135 confirmed coronavirus cases. Nigeria has recorded four new cases of coronavirus in Osun and Ogun State. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, that three new cases have been recorded in Osun, and one recorded in Ogun. "All new cases have mild to moderate symptoms and are currently receiving care," the agency said. The Nigerian Army has intensified preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in barracks in line with the directives of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai. Corruption: EFCC recovers N413.5m in Gombe — Official

The Gombe Zone of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) on Monday said no fewer than 73 persons were convicted and a total of N413.5 million was recovered in 2019 by the commission. The Gombe zonal office comprises of Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba states. Bello Bajoga , EFCC Spokesman in the zone, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that a total sum of $49,200 was also recovered in the year under review. “The Gombe Zonal office of the Commission in 2019 recorded 73 convictions of corrupt persons and recovered N423.5 million. “Also in the year under review, the zonal office received a total of 349 petitions, referred 21 petitions to other agencies for investigation and accredited 317 for investigation. “ Equally, we rejected 32 petitions due to lack of merit and investigated 317 cases,” Bajoga said. The Lagos State Government has confirmed the authenticity of Short Message Service (SMS) messages forwarded to residents who are 60 years and above as part of measures adopted in the distribution of stimulus food package in the state. The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Gbolahan Lawal, made the clarification in a statement in Lagos on Monday. He said that SMS messages from the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) were sent to the aged. The stimulus food package unveiled by the state government on March 27, comes in packs of raw food items, to be distributed to every local government in the state. It is aimed at cushioning the effects of the 14-day lockdown directive by the state and Federal Governments.
