Zamfara Govt. donates N8.5m to families of fallen Niger Republic soldiers

Yari was received by the Nigerien Minister of Defence, Alhaji Kalla Muktari , Governor of Maradi State, Alhaji Zakiri Umar and other Niger Government officials. The Zamfara Government has donated N8.5 million to families of deceased and injured Nigerien soldiers during an ambush by bandits during a joint operation by the Nigeria Army and Nigerien soldiers at Dumburum forest in Zurmi Local Government area of the state. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident happened when the criminals laid ambush against the soldiers during which five of the Nigeriens were killed. Relatives of burnt corpses in Anambra mortuary want speedy identification of bodies

A 90-year old community leader, Mrs Elizabeth Okafor , who lost her son-in-law, urged the Anambra Government to give quick attention to the burnt corpses for burials. Some relatives of the dead whose bodies were burnt at an inferno in Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital, Anambra on Dec. 29 have called for speedy investigation and identification of the corpses. They made the call in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state on Monday. Police confirm arrest of 4 suspected kidnappers, 2 cult kingpins in Akwa Ibom

Kwara bags first ISO certified State Revenue Service

Kwara Internal Revenue Service becomes first in Nigeria to bag two ISO certificates. The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) has received two international certificates for standard, quality and continuity, the first by any state revenue service in Nigeria. The certificates are (a) ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System which implies that the service has demonstrated commitment towards continual improvements in customer satisfaction, productivity, and efficiency (b) ISO 22301: 2012 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) Certification which indicates that the service is resilient and secure against disruptions, incidents and threats.  Speaking during the presentation of the certificates to him by the Executive Chairman of KWIRS, Dr Murtala Awodun at Government House, Ilorin, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed said the outcome of the evaluation was a strong pointer that the state and indeed KWIRS are headed in the right direction on revenue drive.

State Governors say they cannot afford to pay N30,000 minimum wage

The spokesman of the Governors' Forum, said due to financial constraints and other limitations, many states could not afford it for now. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) said that the governors would have loved to pay workers N30,000 as national minimum wage but for the hard times. Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, spokesman of the NGF, said this on Monday in Abuja. The head of the media of the Forum said that due to financial constraints and other limitations, many states could not afford it for now. Lai Mohammed says Saraki lied over N10m donation to victims of Offa robbery

Gunmen kill 4 in Plateau days after 5 party goers were gunned down

The deadly attack is the second involving unknown gunmen in Barkin Ladi in just four days. The Plateau State Police Command has announced the murder of four people in Plateau State, with two other people critically injured. He said the accident occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. near Emene Community axis of the Enugu-Abakaliki road. The Police Command in Enugu state has confirmed that five persons were killed in an accident along Enugu-Abakaliki road on Monday. NEMA says 321 traders, 52 families affected by Abule Egba pipeline explosion

320 shops, 78 vehicles and four residential buildings were destroyed in the fire. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that at least 52 families were affected by the fire explosion that consumed houses and cars in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State two weeks ago. The December 19, 2018 explosion has been determined to have been caused by suspected pipeline vandals trying to steal fuel. According to NEMA, an assessment of the damage has revealed that 320 shops, 78 vehicles and four residential buildings were destroyed in the fire. The agency's South-West Zone spokesperson, Ibrahim Farinloye , told The Punch on Sunday, December 30, that the fire spread and affected seven streets namely: Arowolo, Shobowale, Karonwi, Santos, Owode, Taiwo Adewole and Wamon Taofeek. NAF Alpha Jet neutralises several terrorists near Baga

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has neutralised several Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters at their hideout near Baga in Northern Borno. NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola , who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said the operation was carried out on Saturday. He explained that the attack was conducted after a NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform spotted the terrorists assembled under some trees around the Fish Dam near Baga.
