The aircraft lost radar contact during a routine mission. An aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has gone missing in the northern part of Nigeria. NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet , announced late on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 that the aircraft lost radar contact during a routine mission. The aircraft was supporting troops at one of the Theatres of Operation in the Northern part of the country, according to the brief statement. "Efforts are currently ongoing to locate its whereabout. Badagry prince jailed 1 year for altering document

A Badagry Prince, Semasa James, is to spend the next one year in prison for uttering a document while administering the estate of his father, late Oba Afolabi James of Kweme land, Badagry. An Ikeja Special Offences Court convicted Semasa on Tuesday after it found him guilty of that offence. He was accused of defrauding his 26 siblings of N500 million inheritance while administering the estate of the deceased king. Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue has assured that the killers of Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Ngugban would be arrested and prosecuted. The legislative arm of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State on Tuesday impeached the council Chairman, Mr Oladotun Olakanle, over allegations of gross financial misappropriation. President Buhari approves appointment of new Permanent Secretaries

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the commencement of process for the appointment of new Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service. This is contained in a circular by Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF) and issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja. According to her, the new permanent secretaries will fill vacancies of retired and those retiring in 2021 from Ekiti, Enugu, Katsina, Lagos and Nasarawa States. Japan offers Nigeria $18.2m to strengthen health sector

The Federal Government on Tuesday in Benin said that the Japanese Government has offered $18.2 million (about N40.6 billion) financial support to strengthen Nigeria’s health sector. The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mr Clem Agba, made the disclosure during his visit to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). He said his visit was to assess utilisation of the N49 billion intervention fund released by the Federal Government to 52 federal health institutions in the country. Gov Umahi condemns alleged herders’ attack on Ebonyi communities

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi has condemned the attack on some communities in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state by suspected gunmen. The attack took place on Monday night in Nkalaha, Obegu, Amazu, Nkalagu and Umuhuali Autonomous Communities. At least 15 persons were reportedly killed during the attack, allegedly carried out by herders. COVID-19: Over 600,000 people have been vaccinated in Nigeria

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) says 638, 291 people have received their first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, as at March 30, 2021. Abia Government has announced the death of Chief Ukpai Agwu, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu. COVID-19: NCDC announces 121 new cases, 7 deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 121 new cases of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), taking the total number of infected people in the country to 162,762. The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Tuesday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the country has tested 1,767,694 people since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 pandemic was announced on Feb. 27, 2020. The Katsina State Government is planning to reintroduce development levy and cattle tax in order to raise its revenue. Alhaji Farouk Lawal-Jobe, who chairs the committee on the reintroduction of the taxes made the disclosure at a public sensitisation on the initiative, on Monday in Katsina. Lawal-Jobe , who is also the Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, said that the government would soon commence the capture of prospective tax payers’ data. He said that the taxes would go directly into a special account meant to assist widows and orphans affected by banditry and other security challenges in the state. “We are going to take bio-data of the people killed by bandits, to know the number of wives and children they left behind. “That will help to prevent such children from indulging in such acts,” he added. The Kwara Government on Tuesday warned teachers in the state against indecent dressing. Malam Abubakar Bello, the Chairman, Kwara Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), issued the warning in a statement in Ilorin. The statement signed by the commission’s Press Secretary, Mr Peter Amogbonjaye , advised the teachers to abstain from all dresses capable of demoralising the public. Bello said decent dressing was necessary as teachers were perceived as role models in the society.
