COVID-19: NCDC records zero death, 89 infections on Saturday

The NCDC data showed that Bauchi topped the list of infections with 22 new cases. Nigeria recorded additional 89 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in eight states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as the battle against the deadly disease continues. The NCDC disclosed this in its daily COVID-19 report on Sunday morning. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 89 cases reported on Saturday indicate a decrease from the 120 cases reported on Oct. 29. The Agency said the number of confirmed cases had reached 211,887, with 203,080 discharged and 2,895 deaths in the 36 states and FCT. The NCDC data showed that Bauchi topped the list of infections with 22 new cases, followed by Edo and the FCT with 17 cases respectively. Other states with new infections are Lagos 15, Plateau 10, Kaduna 4, Taraba 2, Bayelsa and Delta 1 each. NCDC said report from Taraba state for Oct. 28 showed two confirmed cases and 46 discharged while on Oct. 29, there were 28 confirmed and 18 discharge

Zamfara, Adamawa, Kano, Gombe, Borno and Niger State governments are owing NECO N1.8bn. The National Examinations Council (NECO) has cried out that some northern state governments are owing it examination fees of N2.8bn. The council’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Dantani Wushishi disclosed this while speaking in Minna on Saturday, October 31, 2021. Wushishi said despite the debt, the exam body did not withhold results of defaulting states. The government has warned members of the public against assisting the fleeing inmates. The Federal Government has again urged the public to inform the police when they sight any of the inmates that escaped from the Abolongo medium custodial centre in Oyo state. The army said the gunmen had earlier attacked personnel of security agencies deployed at Ekwulobia Round About in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. Troops of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, conducting “Exercise Golden Dawn” in the South East, have neutralised four gunmen of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) at Nnobi in Anambra. The Publicity Secretary of the APC in Akwa Ibom State said the politician regained his freedom on Friday, October 30, 2021. Nelson Effiong, former Senator from Akwa Ibom State, has regained his freedom after spending 54 days in kidnappers’ den. Effiong, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was kidnapped on Sunday, September 5, by suspected gunmen. The gunmen, who drove in a Toyota Camry kidnapped the ex-lawmaker at a bar along Oron Road. Announcing his release, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Nkereuwem Enyongekere in a statement said the politician regained his freedom on Friday, October 30, 2021. Nollywood produced 375 movies in Q3 of 2021 according to NFVCB

The Board's report states Lagos has the highest number of movies produced for the period with 159. The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) says it received and censored a total number of 375 movies produced by the Nigerian film industry, also known as Nollywood, in the third quarter of the year. The Special Assistant on Media to the Executive Director/CEO, NFVCB, Mr Joshua Olomu, made this known in a report on Saturday, in Abuja. The Department of Film Censorship and Classification of the board made this known in its report for the third quarter of the year, which captured all films submitted to the board’s offices from across the country. “The report is for onward submission to the relevant Federal Government authority for the compilation of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the third quarter (GDP) Q3, 2021”. According to the report, Lagos had the highest number of movies produced for the period with 159, while Abuja followed closely with 108 movies and
