Lagos govt to demolish buildings on Right of Way in Lekki

The Lagos State Government says it will demolish buildings obstructing government’s Right of Way (RoW) at Lekki in Eti-Osa Local Government Area. Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu disclosed this during a road assessment on Saturday in Lekki, saying that people had built structures without planning approval, thereby obstructing government’s RoW. Sanwo-Olu said that houses built on the RoW and obstructions on the alignment of the Lekki Regional Road were the major causes of flooding around Lekki axis. NIS bursts human trafficking ring at Katsina border, apprehends 28

Operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Border Control at Kongolam, Katsina State, have apprehended 28 persons on the verge of being smuggled out of the country. NIS’ Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday James, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, in Abuja, said 19 females and nine males were now in the custody of NIS. SWAN condemns robbery attack on FC Ifeanyi Ubah

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra has condemned the armed robbery attack on the team of Nnewi based FC Ifeanyi Ubah on their way to honour their Week Six fixtures against Jigawa Golden Stars on Friday. LASTMA mourns murdered officer, condemns attacks on personnel

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has condemned the continual attacks on its officers while carrying out their official duty. The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olajide Oduyoye decried the Friday attack on the authority’s personnel in a statement by LASTMA’s Spokesman, Mr Olumide Filade, on Saturday in Lagos. Gov. Matawalle revokes land titles, allocations on grazing reserves from 1999 to date

Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has revoked all farmland titles and allocations that were made along cattle grazing reserves in the state from 1999 to date. This is contained in a statement by Mallam Yusuf Idris, the Director-General of Press Affairs to the governor and made available to newsmen in Gusau on Saturday. Idris said the governor’s action had become necessary in order to address the issues of insecurity arising from farmers/herders conflicts strongly believed to be connected with the allocations of farmlands along grazing reserves, cattle routes and forest reserves. He said Gov. Matawalle had also approved the constitution of a committee with a view to resolving the conflicts caused directly or indirectly as a result of the farmlands allocations in the state. Gov. Lalong says he haven’t lost focus in Plateau

Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau state says he has not lost focus in the state following the unfolding political situation. NDLEA arrests man over alleged possession of 800 grams of drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kwara State Command, has arrested one suspect over possession of 800 grams of psychotropic drugs. This was contained in a press statement signed by the Agency’s Public Affairs Officer, Abigail Adebija in Ilorin on Friday. She said the suspect was arrested on Nov. 22 in Omupo, Kwara state following information from a reliable source to the Agency. Adebija said the suspect was arrested with 800 grams of psychotropic drugs comprising of 400 grams of Tramadol 225 milligrams and 400 grams of Exol 5. The Benue Police Command on Friday said it arrested 16 suspected cults members in connection with several killings in the state. The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, told News Agency of Nigeria in Makurdi that the mode of the homicide has links with cult killings. Anene said that the arrests of the suspected cultists was over a period of three weeks, adding that the command had deployed officers in strategic areas to forestall further killings in the state. Cholera: Commissioner says 5 die in Ogun

No fewer than five persons were confirmed dead and 12 reported cases on Friday due to cholera at Lafenwa, Abeokuta North local council of Ogun. The Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Health, Dr Adesanya Ayinde, said at a news conference in Abeokuta that one person died in the hospital and four in the affected communities. He listed the communities to include Kuto, Kobiti, Abule-Otun, Lafenwa, all in Abeokuta. Ayinde revealed that eight cases were reported from health facilities and four picked in the communities from retrospective case search and confirmed through laboratory test. He said the State Epidemiology unit had earlier received a report of laboratory confirmed case of cholera from the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, after which it immediately swung into action. Troops kill 13 Boko Haram, ISWAP terrorists in Borno

The combined troops of Sector 3 Operation LAFIYA DOLE and Sector 2 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) of Chadian forces have killed 13 terrorists on Thursday at Duguri Island in the extreme Northern Borno. The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja. Iliyasu said that the terrorist of Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) mounted four Gun Trucks with the intention of overrunning the troops harbour position from the rear. He added that the troops also captured three Gun Trucks, three Anti Aircraft Guns, 12 AK 47 Rifles, three Bandoliers of Anti Aircraft Guns and 270 Rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition among other critical assets. According to him, four members of troops were wounded during the encounter and two of the wounded soldiers have already stabilized in a nearby military medical facility while the other two are awaiting air evacuation for further medical management. INEC says will continue to use, deploy Smart Card Reader

The Independent National Electoral Commission(lNEC) says it will continue to use and deploy the Smart Card Reader(SCR) in all elections. The commission disclosed this in a statement issued by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, on Thursday in Abuja. It stated that the card readers would be deployed for elections, including the rerun elections in Kogi West Senatorial District, Ajaokuta Federal Constituency and Sabuwa State Constituency elections holding on Saturday. President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded traditional rulers in the country for their contributions to nation-building and peaceful coexistence. Buhari made the commendation at Izhia autonomous community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi, during the 80th birthday and 41 anniversary of the coronation of His Royal Majesty , Israel Chibueze-Agbo, as the traditional ruler of Izhia. APC condemns arrest of members in Zamfara

The Zamfara Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the alleged arrest and detention of its members in the state. The state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Lawal Liman, condemned the action in Gusau on Thursday while meeting with the 14 local government chairmen of the party in the state. He described the arrests as a political witch hunt by the state government. Liman noted that members of the party have been facing harassment, intimidation and threats from the government.
