Elhadji Niang, has solicited for collaboration with the Armed Forces of Nigeria in dealing with the menace of insurgency in the sub-Saharan Africa. Mr Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy of the agency in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja said that fraudsters are demanding for payment from the shortlisted candidates. Nigeria on Tuesday recorded one COVID-19- related death and 11 new infections, the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) has said. The NCDC disclosed this on Wednesday. This, the NCDC said, brings the total infections in the country to 167,543. The new cases, the centre added, were reported in Kaduna-three, Oyo-three, Plateau-two, Rivers-two and Ogun-one. “Today’s report doesn’t include data from Lagos state and the FCT. States with zero cases reported are Ekiti, Kano, Nasarawa, Oyo and Sokoto,” NCDC said. The NCDC said that Nigeria successfully managed 163,985, while 2,120 people died of complications. The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) on Tuesday said that its founder, Prophet TB Joshua, would be laid to rest on Friday, July 9, at the church premises in Lagos. Dr Gary Tonge , an international member of the church made this known while addressing newsmen in Lagos on the programmes for the burial of the prophet. According to him, July 5 to July 11, is dedicated to a series of laying to rest activities tagged ‘Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Prophet Joshua, born (1963 to 2021)’. He told newsmen that the event would start with a private candle light procession at 6:00 pm. Tonge said on July 6 to July 7, there would be a tribute service at 10 am to 7 pm which would be opened to the public but with limited physical presence. The Constitutional Court of South Africa has sentenced former President Jacob Zuma to 15 months imprisonment for contempt of court.
