Former agent of Victor Osimhen gives the full details of the expected move to Napoli and why the Super Eagles striker sacked him
Osimhen's former agent revealed that Napoli first made contact with Lille about the striker in March 2020.
Jean-Gérard Benoit Czajka, who is the former agent of Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has come out to reveal the details behind the player’s expected move to Napoli and why the Lille star sacked him.
Czajka worked with Osimhen since he was 14, and helped the Nigerian striker negotiate his first move to Europe. But their working relationship came to an end in June 2020 when the 21-year-old striker sacked him and his partner for allegedly making their interest a priority over that of the player while negotiating the deal with Napoli.
Osimhen has started working with another agent William D’avilla who was recommended by Lille president Gerard Lopez.
In an interview with France Football, Czajka called the allegation ‘nonsense’ and said he was due to get his commission of eight percent of the deal which is the standard.
“These are nonsense that he put in the head of the player. We have writings from Napoli, there is a guaranteed commission that we received by email from Mr. Giuntoli (the Sporting Director of Napoli) of €5M for the work done, which constitutes about 8% of the total gross contract negotiated. We are far from the negotiated personal bonuses as declared by Victor in the press,” Czajka said.
Czajka went on the reveal that Napoli had been in contact with Lille because of Osimhen since March although the player was initially not keen on a move to Italy.
“Victor did not want to go to Italy. From the start, he had been stuck on the idea of playing in Serie A,” he said.
“He told me that racism issues scared him and that he didn’t feel it. He even told me in March-April: “I don’t want to go and play in Italy even if it’s for Juventus at €10 million net per year.”
“I told Victor that before having such strong ideas, that he had to travel to see for himself, meet people, talk with players who are confronted with racism, etc,”
“Something that we finally did on July 1, 2 and 3 when we met the coach, the sports director, as well as the president De Laurentiis who is a man with values and experience, and who seems to have convinced the player.
“Victor also spoke a lot with Kalidou Koulibaly and this was decisive in his choice for Napoli.”
In the interview, Czajka also revealed that he started working with Osimhen just after he was discovered at the age of 14.
“Thereafter, we had our contacts with Emmanuel Amunike, then coach of the country’s U17s. He told us: ‘Go see this little youngster, he’s a phenomenon’. By that insistence, he moved, we saw him and gave him a chance.”
He also revealed that he shopped the striker around European clubs but did not get any offer until after the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup where Oismhen scored 10 goals to finish as highest goalscorer in the tournament which Nigeria won.
