VIDEO: Verydarkman recovers ₦78m from allegedly hacked NGO account

Social media influencer and activist Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has successfully recovered ₦78 million from the ₦180 million allegedly stolen from his NGO’s account.

Otse first alerted his followers on Instagram about the alleged hacking incident, which he claimed wiped out a significant portion of the organisation's funds.

The revelation was met with mixed reactions, with some questioning the authenticity of his claims.

In a Sunday Instagram update, Otse confirmed the partial recovery of the funds and expressed gratitude for the progress made.

“Thanks to the people who called to check up on me. I also want to thank God for the process so far: we have been able to recover ₦78m,” he shared.

He disclosed further details about the ongoing investigation, stating that a suspect had revealed the involvement of another individual who had reportedly fled to Ghana.

“The person he did with has run to Ghana, so hopefully, we would be going to Ghana very soon,” Otse added.

The incident has drawn public attention to cybersecurity issues and the challenges of safeguarding NGO funds.

Investigations are ongoing, focusing on recovering the remaining ₦102 million.
