Governor Mutfwang won't tolerate disloyalty, indiscipline from appointees

Mutfwang wants appointees to uphold the sanctity of accountability probity, justice, and fairness.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has said that he would not tolerate disloyalty, indiscipline, flagrant abuse of office and indolence from appointees in the discharge of their duties.

Mutfwang gave the warning shortly after swearing in eight new Permanent Secretaries to the state civil service on Tuesday at Government House Jos.

Represented by his Deputy, Josephine Piyo, the governor said the new appointees must render diligent service to the Mutfwang adminstration and people of Plateau.

"Failure in this regard will be considered unfit and shown the way out. You must therefore remain focused and join hands with my administration in the implementation of our programmes and policies to deliver on “the time is now mandate," he said.

Mutfwang congratulated the appointees and urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their duties and adhere to the guidelines of the civil service.

"Work within the scheme and schedule of the service by upholding the sanctity of accountability probity, justice, and fairness," he said.

Mutfwang said their appointments was aimed at reinvigorating the state civil service for optimum service delivery and to fill existing vacancies.

He described the new Permanent Secretaries as seasoned civil servants and bureaucrats and expressed confidence that they would perform their duties diligently.

"Bear in mind that your appointment is a public trust, which you must protect. You are to note that where any one of you is found wanting, necessary sanction will be administered on him or her," he said.

The governor said his administration was determined to reposition the civil service as the engine room of government to give it the credence that it deserved.

Mutfwang assured the people that he would work for the interest of all in the state irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations.

Responding on behalf of the new appointees, Alexander Nyelong thanked the governor for finding them worthy to serve and assured him that they would discharge their duties diligently.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new permanent secretaries inaugurated were Aliyu Samuel, Esther Pwaspo, Mary Fom and Kelvin Bamshak.

Others were Tamba Garba, Alexander Nyelong, Lydia Nantim and Jummai Adamu.
