Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme scores brace but his club still loses in Turkey

Nwakaeme shows once again why he is perhaps Nigeria's best option from the left side of attack.

Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme is showing he’s still a force to reckon with as he scored a brace for Trabzonspor on Friday, October 30, 2020.

Nwakaeme scored twice although he could not stop Trabzonspor from falling to a 4-3 home loss to Kasımpaşa.

He first scored in the 31st minute with a precise finish just outside the area. He controlled the ball and quickly slotted the ball into the bottom corner to give his side the lead.

His second was more impressive, beating his marker on the left before driving into the box to finish past the goalkeeper.

His brace gave Trabzonsor a 3-1 lead in the game before Kasımpaşa fought back to win 4-3.

It was another fine performance from Nwakaeme to show he still has a lot to offer.

The 31-year-old has been ignored by Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr despite outscoring other players in that left forward role in the last two seasons.

It's still confusing why Rohr continues to ignore the forward. A good dribbler and consistent goalscorer, Nwakaeme carries more goal threat than the likes of Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu and even Ahmed Musa from the left but yet continues to be ignored for the other options.
