Mitsubishi and Sisiano celebrate the power of design with inspired capsule collection at Lagos Fashion Week 2018

Mitsubishi and Sisiano celebrate the power of design with inspired capsule collection at Lagos Fashion Week

As they launched their Eclipse Cross model at Lagos Fashion Week; Mitsubishi teamed up with Sisiano for an unforgettable show.

Lagos Fashion Week is so much more than just fashion, it's a celebration of design in all its forms. What better place to launch the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, the first of a new generation of Mitsubishi SUVs that are designed and built to impress, inside and out. We take a look at how Mitsubishi and Sisiano celebrate the power of design with inspired capsule collection at Lagos Fashion Week.

Lagos Fashion Week was four days of celebrating the very best of fashion design across Africa. Designers from Ghana all the way through to Cote d'Ivoire came to showcase the huge creative strides we have made as an industry.

As guests filed into the main tent for the show, just to the left stood the Mitsubishi display of the Eclipse Cross, conveying subtle confidence and designed to bring the SUV into the modern age, combining the latest styling design with incredible driving dynamics and intuitive safety technology.

The 2018 Eclipse Cross marks the dawn of Mitsubishi's new design advancements. Every detail is crafted for confidence-inspiring driving. The exterior's sharp, sculpted lines give it a strong stance, while the newly developed, premium Red Diamond paint radiates vibrant colour. Dynamic design that captivates is the Mitsubishi standard.

Mitsubishi ensured that their presence was felt at LFW2018 with installations and displays that caught the eye of event-goers. One such installation was the Virtual Reality booth in the Retail tent. Guests were allowed to take a virtual tour of the new Eclipse Cross thanks to state of the art VR glassess.

In order to cement the arrival of the Eclipse Cross, Mitsubishi decided to team up with one of fashions most celebrated designers, Sisiano, to create a limited edition capsule collection inspired by the beauty that is the brand new SUV. With a focus on simple elegance and fluidity, it's no wonder Sisiano was the designer of choice.

Sisiano by Paul Sisiano, since it burst onto the Nigerian fashion scene has been the gift that keeps on giving. Well- known for his use of vibrant colours and chic silhouettes, Sisiano designs breathtaking, minimalist pieces that personify movement. A former dancer, his passion for form and movement explains why Sisiano's pieces come alive the way they do.

The main tent went dark and grew quiet as the screens lit up with the Mitsubishi advert. The Eclipse Cross flashed into view and the breathtaking car with it's state of the art features was prominently displayed to the rapt audience. As the advert faded, the runway lit up and models filed out in Sisiano creations.

The first thing that struck about the collection was the complimentary colour palette. The clothes moved down the runway beautifully in a sea of brilliant red, blush, black and creams. The entire collection was the personification of elegance; a delicate mixture of stunning evening looks and simple flowing menswear.

It was everything we would expect from Sisano and so much more. The inspired collection really drove home the emphasis on quality design and reinforced Mitsubishi's commitment to not only the creative arts but towards supporting design in all its senses.

The Eclipse Cross is much more than a car, it's a statement; a new era for SUV.

NYSC Mobilisation & Academic Standards – Raising quality or adding pressure on students?

On September 29, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved a reform linking the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation process to the National Policy for the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD). By invoking Sections 2(4)(4) and 16(1)(C) of the NYSC Act, Tinubu stated that no graduate, whether from a Nigerian or foreign institution, will be mobilised for or exempted from NYSC without proof of compliance with the NERD policy. In a common man's understanding, the Federal Government has announced that Nigerian students must now submit their final-year projects or thesis before they can be mobilised for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). This policy aims to improve academic standards, ensuring that no student skips essential academic requirements before entering the NYSC scheme . On the surface, this sounds like a laudable idea, but a deeper look reveals a different reality. In many universities, students are allowed to graduate and mobilised for NYSC  ...
