Afe Babalola University: Webometrics rates ABUAD as the best private university in Nigeria
Afe Babalola University not Covenant is now the best private tertiary institution in Nigeria according to Webometrics.
Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), Ado Ekiti, has been ranked as the best private university in Nigeria.
Webometrics, a Spain-based world universities ranking website rates ABUAD second coming after the University of Ibadan in its July edition of university ranking.
Covenant University, which has always been rated above other private universities occupies the third position in the ranking followed by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, which rated fourth in Nigeria and 3,050th in the world.
ABUAD was established by the former Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, UNILAG in 2009.
According to Vanguard, ABUAD in the eight years of its existence has been ranked as the fastest growing university in Africa by different bodies.
The National Universities Commission also recently said that ABUAD College of Law was the best in West Africa, while the Nigeria Society of Engineering described its College of Engineering as the template for engineering education in the country.

Also, in March 2018, the Daily Asset Newspapers decorated the institution with the University of the year 2017 award.
The Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the newspapers, Dr. Cletus Akwaya in a letter to the institution said the Editorial Board of the media house nominated the university ''without (any) influence whatsoever from any quarters as it was purely based on merit”.
