Microsoft to equip Ghanaian teacher who teaches without a computer

Ghanaian teacher who received a global applause for finding a unique way to teach his students how to use Microsoft Word without a computer has finally gotten Microsoft come to his aid.

Richard Appiah Akoto, 33, is the information and communication technology (ICT) teacher at Betenase M/A Junior High School in the town of Sekyedomase, about two and half hours drive north of Ghana’s second city, Kumasi.

On Facebook, Akoto goes by the nickname “Owura Kwadwo Hottish” which was the name that went viral on both Facebook and Twitter.

The dedicated educator took to social media to share photos of his classroom where he had drawn the layout of Mircosoft Word onto a blackboard.

"Teaching of ICT [computer science] in Ghana's school is very funny," Mr Kwadwo wrote on Facebook.

This received a lot of comments from social media.

His shared photos got so much attention which led to Cameroonian tech entrepreneur Rebecca Enonchong weighing in to call for assistance from Microsoft.

Microsoft reacted positively to assist the Ghanaian teacher.
