Owen Gee: Comedian reveals how he almost committed suicide last year

Owen Gee has revealed that he tried committing suicide when things weren't going well for him as he now preaches against it.

Owen Gee recently dropped the bombshell that he almost committed suicide last year.

The stand-up comedian revealed this shocking news as part of his effort to join in the campaign against Nigerians committing suicide which is being spearheaded by a new initiative "Live and Not Die."

Owen Gee while speaking highlighted how he resulted to drugs to get away from depression and how it didn't even work for him

 

"I have had suicidal tendencies. Last year, I tried several things, but they did not work out. It was not because the ideas were bad, but the people I was working with just didn’t let them work out. Then anxiety and depression set in. It was then I realised that no drug could calm depression. There was hardly anyone I didn’t take.

"There was a time I was sleeping on drugs. There was a particular yellow tablet that, if I took it on Tuesday, on Wednesday I would only be prompted to barely wake up, eat and go back to sleep even before I finished eating. I would not wake up until Thursday.” he said

Owen Gee is the latest celebrity to join the list of celebrities who have come out openly to reveal that they have battled depression.

We can all recall when the actress, Toyin Aimakhu spoke about her depression phase and how she was able to handle it while she was a guest at the 2017 edition of Success Story Africa, held at the TLC Auditorium, Lagos.

 

This won't be the first time Toyin Aimakhu would be revealing how she abused drugs in the past as it would be recalled that during an interview with Broadway TV, the beautiful actress had also spoken about her drug abuse problem and how she didn't expect her marriage to actor, Adeniyi Johnson to end in such a messy way.

Protesters block East-West road in Rivers, demand action on poverty & hunger

The protesters chose to spotlight the East-west road in the expression of their anger over hunger, poverty and infrastructure deficit in the supposed viable business area.
