Black Panther: Lupita Nyong'o leads the charge of stylish celebs at star-studded premiere

Lupita Nyong'o at the Black Panther premiere

A host of actors including Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyong'o stormed the purple carpet for the long-awaited premiere

Lupita Nyong'o commanded attention on the purple carpet of the Black Panther premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night. The Oscar-winning actress lead the charge of stylish celebrities at the star-studded premiere.

The 34-year-old beauty wore a deep plum-colored, custom-made Altelier Versace gown complete with an ornate jewel caged harness. Her stylist Micaela Erlanger told The Hollywood Reporter:

"We found out there was a purple carpet after we had chosen the dress, but it was kind of a perfect reason to go with the gown; I think it’s a new addition to the Lupita rainbow! There’s definitely a nod to her warrior character Nakia here, without being costumey,' she said. 'It’s a really glamorous take on our vision and it’s very fierce, certainly."

Her co-star Angela Bassett looked age-defying as she rocked a vibrant yellow fringed Naeem Khan jumpsuit on the purple carpet.

Fresh from a powerful presentation at the Grammys, Janelle Monae rocked a show-stopping black Christian Siriano gown with billowing royal blue and white sleeves.

Styled by Alexandra Mandelkorn, Janelle Monae wore a beautiful African kufi on top of her side-swept locks.

Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman looked dapper wearing a silky black Emporio Armani jacket with intricate golden floral patterns. He also wore a pair of black trousers and shiny black shoes as he smiled on the purple carpet ahead of the premiere.

On September 29, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved a reform linking the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation process to the National Policy for the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD). By invoking Sections 2(4)(4) and 16(1)(C) of the NYSC Act, Tinubu stated that no graduate, whether from a Nigerian or foreign institution, will be mobilised for or exempted from NYSC without proof of compliance with the NERD policy. In a common man's understanding, the Federal Government has announced that Nigerian students must now submit their final-year projects or thesis before they can be mobilised for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
