Dickson Akoh seeks Emir of Katsina's support for Peace Corps(Pulse The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sign a bill seeking to establish Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) as a paramilitary organization in the country.
The
traditional ruler stated this at his palace when he received national
officers of PCN and commandants from the 7 states of the North West
region on Thursday, September 28, 2017.
The Emir who used the opportunity to preach peace and good neighborliness further pledged his support for the Corps.

maintained that when signed into law, the organization would further
promote peace within the country following the growing incidents of hate
speeches.

“Until we learn how to tolerate each other, no matter the tribe or religion, we would not get it right in this country.
"We
should be one. We live side by side, we sit down side by side to eat
and drink together here. Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Birom, we should remain
united. Igbos and Yorubas are my brothers and sisters, I will use my
last blood to fight for one Nigeria.
“I
will like to use this opportunity to beg the president to quickly
assent to the bill so as to help empower the teeming youth and curtail
social vices in the society,” he added.
Earlier in his address, the national commandant of the Corps, Dickson Akoh lauded the traditional ruler for championing the course of peace and mutual integration among the indigenes and the dwellers.
While
pledging total support of the Peace Corps officers to the programmes of
the Emirates aimed at that enhancing peace and unity in the state.
