Gaya: Tinubu will make Nigeria 'the envy of other nations

Gaya believes Tinubu and Shettima are a perfect match with the capacity to take Nigeria to greater heights. Senator Kabiru Gaya has said that the emergence of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria's president-elect is God's answer to the country's prayers for good leadership. He said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during a joint prayer session organised by APC Stakeholders Forum on Wednesday night. Gaya, who represents Kano-South Senatorial District in the Senate, said Tinubu’s antecedents when he was governor of Lagos State for two terms were there for all to see. He expressed optimism that if he could replicate what he did in Lagos State in terms of infrastructure and grow the state’s economy in spite of obvious odds at the national level, Nigeria would be a better place for all. Constitution doesn't recognise Minister of State role - Keyamo tells Buhari

Keyamo thanked Buhari for considering him worthy of a ministerial position but insisted that the role of a minister of state is unconstitutional. The outgoing Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has argued that the appointment of ministers of state by successive presidents is totally against the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution. Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), made this known when he gave what he described as his "own little contribution to" Nigeria's constitutional development as a relatively young democracy. Speaking during the Valedictory Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Keyamo proposed that future governments should instead appoint separate ministers to handle individual portfolios. Pulse reports that the session which marks the end of the current administration was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari and had the Vice Presi...

Tension brews as Wase confronts Gbajabiamila during plenary

Gbajabiamila and Wase have been enduring a tenuous relationship in recent times over the jostle for the speakership position of the 10th Assembly. It seems the once cordial relationship between the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, and his Deputy, Ahmed Idris Wase, has completely broken down, at least judging by the recent bust-up between the duo. Wase has been a loyal Deputy to the Speaker since 2019, but a divide has emerged between them over the latter's refusal to back the former for the 10th House Assembly speakership position. Trouble started after Gbajabiamila reportedly recommended Kaduna State lawmaker, Hon Tajudeen Abass and Benjamin Kalu from Abia State for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the coming 10th House, and convinced the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to endorse the duo. Wase, who claimed to have stepped down for the emergence of Gbajabiamila in 2019, deemed the Speaker's move as a betrayal and has since teamed up wit...
