2023: Tinubu, Osinbajo support groups reject Jonathan’s candidacy in APC

A party member says all presidential aspirants are aware of the plan to bring Jonathan in as the consensus candidate. Support groups working for the emergence of Bola Tinubu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as Nigeria's next president have dismissed the speculation and plot to present former President, Goodluck Jonathan as a consensus candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). It is believed that some members of the National Working Committee of the party are behind the plot to make Jonathan the party’s flagbearer in the 2023 presidential election. Apart from Tinubu and Osinbajo support groups, other groups loyal to Governor Yahaya Bello , Rotimi Amaechi and Governor, Dave Umahi have also rejected the plot. Zoning: PDP holds NEC meeting May 4

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is to hold its 96th National Executive Committee (NEC) on Wednesday, May 4. The party disclosed this in a notice issued by its National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu , in Abuja on Saturday. He urged all members of the NEC to attend the meeting. Anyanwu said that the meeting that would start by 2pm would hold at the NEC Hall, PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja. Some Nollywood actors on Saturday mourned the passage of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alaafin of Oyo. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the late Alaafin died on Friday night at the Afe Babalola Teaching Hospital Ado-Ekiti. The actors took to their Instagram pages to pay tribute to the late oba with the display of his pictures. Imo govt consoles family of over 100 people killed by oil bunkering fire

The Imo Government has commiserated with families of victims of the fire outbreak that killed over 100 people at an illegal oil bunkering site in the state on Friday night. In a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Owerri, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Declan Emelumba described the incident as a “ sad development”. NAN reports that the fire incident occurred at an illegal oil bunkering site located between Abacheke and Abezi boundary communities in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state. “The government commiserates with families of the deceased. It is a pity that they died as a result of illegal oil bunkering. “The government is concerned with anything that affects lives.
