The ex-president held a closed-door meeting with President Buhari. President Muhammadu Buhar i has again met with former President, Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The ex-president was said to have arrived at the Villa about 03:00 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Upon his arrival, the ex-president immediately held a closed-door meeting with his successor. The details of the meeting remain undisclosed, but it is believed that the meeting is likely connected to Jonathan’s activities as Special Envoy of the Economic Community of West African States. The governor’s wife said it was becoming increasingly difficult for the government alone to provide all the infrastructure needs of various communities. Wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, has urged Nigerians to join both the federal and state governments in providing amenities for community development. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it is working on reducing importation of drugs from its present 70 per cent to 30 per cent by 2025. NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye , told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that this could be achieved through increased local manufacturing of drugs. Adeyeye said that increasing local drug manufacturing would help curb prevalence substandard drugs and ensure drug security in the country. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra Chapter, says it will review its performance in the November 6 governorship election in the state. The party which made the resolution at a Stakeholders’ Meeting in Awka on Tuesday, said it would sanction party members who sabotaged the election. A former Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Benin Branch, Mr Douglas Ogbankwa, on Wednesday said that a husband can be held liable for rape of his wife if he touches her inappropriately. Ogbankwa stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), following arguments as to whether it is possible for a man to rape his wife. He said that prior to the domestication of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law in some states of the federation, it was legally impossible for a husband to be accused of raping his wife. Ogbankwe said that this was basically due to exceptions established by the penal laws in some parts of the country, which excluded a husband from accusations of rape of his wife, and vice versa. He, however, said that following domestication of the VAPP law, the position has effectively changed and it now makes a husband culpable of raping his wife even by advances or touches considered inappropriate. Governor of Katsina, Aminu Masari, says his administration will support residents who want to pick up guns against bandits and terrorists ravaging the state.
