APC suspends Governor Idris’ Aide for bringing snake to Government House

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended Alhaji Kabir Sani-Giant , Gov. Nasir Idris 's special adviser on Power and Politics, with immediate effect. A statement signed by the party’s Kebbi State Secretary, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad-Kimba , announced the suspension in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday. He revealed that on February 8, 2025, Sani-Giant brought a snake to Government House to intimidate dignitaries, statesmen, and officials. Gov Zulum grants 2-year tax waiver to traders in Borno hit by floods, market fire

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved a two-year tax waiver for traders affected by the September 2024 flood disaster and the Maiduguri Monday Market fire incident. The initiative is aimed at facilitating economic recovery and easing financial burdens on struggling businesses. Announcing the waiver in Maiduguri on Sunday, the Chairman of the Borno State Internal Revenue Service (BO-IRS), Prof Ibrahim Bello , said the decision aligns with the state government’s tax reforms to enhance the ease of doing business. “This waiver is part of our broader tax administration reforms aimed at fostering economic growth. Governor Zulum is committed to ensuring businesses affected by recent disasters receive much-needed relief to rebuild and thrive,” Bello stated. Obasa/Meranda Saga: Lagos Assembly directs staff to work remotely

The Lagos State House of Assembly has directed all staff and legislative aides to work remotely indefinitely, to prevent potential violence from the ongoing leadership crisis. The directive, issued by Acting Clerk, Mr Babatunde Ottun, was communicated in a memo to all staff in Lagos on Sunday. The memo is titled ‘Amendment to Remote Work Schedule Arrangement’. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the crisis began after 32 lawmakers removed Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and ex-Clerk Olalekan Onafeko in January. Obasa was replaced by his former deputy, Mojisola Meranda, as the new Speaker. The crisis intensified on Feb. 17 when DSS operatives sealed off the Assembly complex, preventing a plenary session. In spite of this, lawmakers forced their way into the chambers, held a session, and adjourned indefinitely, declaring a vote of confidence in Meranda. Tragedy strikes in Edo as 12 passengers burnt to death in bus-truck collision

Tragedy struck on Saturday morning along the Benin-Auchi highway as 12 passengers were burnt to death in an accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus and a truck. Cyril Mathew , Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who confirmed the incident, said the crash occurred around 5 a.m. at Igueoviobo community, near an army checkpoint on the highway. According to the FRSC official, the bus, which departed from Zuba in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and was heading to Benin, collided with an oncoming truck en route to Auchi. “The entire occupants of the bus were killed in the crash. “The accident likely resulted from fatigue, as the driver may have dozed off, leading to the collision, ” he said. Following the impact, he said, the bus was engulfed in flames, making it impossible to save the victims.
